Aircraft donations
Since the early 1990s, United has donated at least eight of its Boeing 727s and 737s to museums and universities in the US. Universities turn the aircraft into hands on classrooms for students pursuing careers in aircraft maintenance, flight or aviation administration. Museums display the planes for the entire community to enjoy.

United has donated planes to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the Museum of Flight in Seattle, and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, as well as to Lewis University, Purdue University, San Jose State University, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
